I have carried out a number of research commissions over the past 20 plus years; sometimes just clearing away a brick wall or resolving a family mystery, other times compiling a direct line family tree for many generations.

Do you have a family story that you have been unable to verify?

• I was able to prove that a jockey from Suffolk had been in Russia, attending horses for the Tsar, and escaped from Sebastopol in 1917 to return to England with Russian jewellery. A family story for a man in Essex that no one in his family was sure was true. The newspaper report from that time was found and used by Duff Hart-Davies for his "Horses of War" novel. He admitted to me that he didn't know the family history of the jockey so invented a family for his book.

• A story for another family believing that ancestors originated and migrated from the Western Isles of Scotland many hundreds of years before was proven and found to be factually correct.

• Another family had a story that their family came to the UK from Poland and that their name was changed was found to be factual and evidence was supplied to show how the family migrated, their occupations and the different name changes as they moved through Germany to Liverpool, Manchester and beyond.

Do you have living family that you have 'lost'?

• I was asked by a man to find his long-lost half-sister, who he last saw over 50 years before. I found her and put them back in touch. They now speak to each other frequently.

• I was asked by a woman for help to discover her sister, who was left in the UK when the rest of the family emigrated to Australia over 60 years before. This one did take some time to track down but she was found in the end. They subsequently discovered that they did not have much in common so have not kept in touch.

• A woman, adopted at birth, needed help to find her natural family. DNA results were used to fully verify the findings and show definitive lineage. 

• I have had requests for old school friends to be located and put back in touch, if they wish to be. Personally found my own schoolfriends and found 28 out of the 32 in our class. We now have a FaceBook group.

• I have been successful at researching and evidencing parts of family trees where the researcher was unable to find the evidence. This has been done for many, many different people for many different reasons.

Complete family tree of direct ancestors

• Generational Family Tree: No time to find your family? Do you need a family tree to prove an inheritance? Do you need it for a gift? I have had many requests for full direct ancestor family trees, going back to the 1800's and some even as far back as the 1600's to date. 

• Ruby Wedding gift folder: I had a Best Man from 40 years ago request the direct family history back to 1815 for the  couple for their Ruby Wedding gift. A presentation folder, with a family tree and many details of the family, was given at the Ruby Wedding party and created a lot of interest from their family.

• Family Commissions: projects undertaken for part family trees where a family member has been unable to verify their own personal family history project for one reason or another.

• Family History Book: a male ancestral line researched and displayed in a 50-page coffee table book for the direct descendants. Photos and many interesting facts, plus a full family tree for each generation included. The attached file is a pdf representation of the final book, which was printed in a much higher resolution. • Individual life histories: one ancestor's personal history researched and written as a biography, an obituary or as a diary of their life.

The research work is meticulously documented and proven, with birth, marriage (where married) and death (if applicable) certificates provided for direct ancestors at cost. I have worked with families across England, Scotland and Wales to find their personal history or lost family or friends and in some cases into Poland, Germany, and the Commonwealth.

I also have a personal family tree, documented and traceable, back to 1575 and extending to over 2500 individuals for both my English self and for my Scottish husband.
