Ensuite 4 as it is called isn't an ensuite at the moment, it is the main shower room downstairs and, as the upstairs shower doesn't work, the main 'bathroom' for us at the moment. It was installed because the elderly lady and gent who had the house before were invalids so the council supplied this for them. The gent then broke the basin and the floor had become stained with rust so needs replacing. Can't wait for that to be done soon.
It had a little blower heater as the only means of heating until Nov 2023 when a towel rail was installed and oh bliss, we have warm, dry towels and don't freeze bits off during the winter when we have a shower. You can't believe how long towels stay damp for when there isn't any heating. All sorts of measures to get them dry enough for the next day.
This room will be updated with a new window soon, the same type as the one in ensuite 3, and also an infrared mirror heater which will be even better than just having the towel rail. It is still to be decided as to how the floor and tiling are to be replaced but we will now use ensuite 3 until it is.
Wetroom as bought in June '21
Shower is ok but shower curtain I absolutely hate and hope for a glass screen sometime soon
Fan missing from the wall as it blew up! Old window in place still and needing changed
Brand new wifi towel rail - deep joy as we now have heat in the room and warm dry towels
Dec 2025: This room is still not completed and will wait a while now. The basin may be cracked, the toilet rusty and the floor stained but it is the wetroom that is used for dogs, as well as me returning from being out on the water rowing or paddling.
There have been a few updates though and we also now use it as a drying room for wet towels, wet weather gear and dog walking kit.
The plasterboard was replaced and insulation put in, as well as a new window. A fan was replaced, the shower curtain removed and the sliding door changed to a Suffolk door to match the rest of the house. The wall between this wetroom and what is now the study/bedroom was found to be leaning but we left it as it is and instead Sandy 'jiggered' the door so it fits the doorway. It now slopes on both sides and we had an unhappy builder.
New door in place of a white painted sliding door
New plasterboard, taped and filled and new window in place
Ready for me to start painting the wood surrounds and Ray to paint the walls. Tiles remain.
Unhappy builder trying to get it all to fit together when he has to deal with wonky walls
