Moved In

October 2021 - by this time we had been living in temporary accommodation for a number of weeks whilst we cleaned everything down, painted everything white as an interim solution and carried out some other work in the house. 

We then started moving some of our belongings out of storage in Suffolk and into the house in Scotland, hiring vans to transport it ourselves each time we returned home from Ray playing in Suffolk Over 60's cricket matches.  At one time we had three self-storage rooms; one with all the main furniture and belongings, one with all the garage and garden shed equipment and one with all the items we had been using for the 9 months we had been trying to purchase the house originally. The third one was the first to be emptied and brought up to be put into our new home in Scotland.

We created some spaces that would enable us to be able to move into the house. The kitchen took a week to clean, another to paint. The bedroom had to have large furniture up a spiral staircase or lifted through a hatch. The lounge had to have an offcut of carpeting put down, a few things on the walls and a couple of chairs installed with a small panel heater as none of the storage heaters seemed to work. Then we moved in to a home that is very much a halfway house until we can decide what we want to do to it, how much money we have and who is going to do it. 

A few boxes have now been cleared and the rest of our furniture has arrived at the house. The wardrobes have 'stuff' in them, sometimes not always what should be in them. We are getting to a better state and the architect is measuring up and helping with ideas and costs. Still so far to go!
