House Clearance

July 2021 - we employed a local company, Quick n Easy Transport, to come in and completely empty the house for us. We could have done it ourselves but with van hire and then disposal costs, plus the time taken, it was cheaper and easier to use this company. They did an excellent job.

Their instructions were to remove everything, just everything. This included carpets, curtains, loft space clutter, garage, garage mezzanine, et al. As they started to rip up the worn and frayed carpet in the main room they called for us to come and look. They found a solid wood floor underneath. The flooring is the original flooring, put down in the 1970's, and needs just marginal attention once all the work is complete. It did ruin our plans for installing underfloor central heating though and we had to change our plans for that. It also did not have any insulation under it and so taking the carpet and underlay up made a difference to the temperature in the room but the carpet had to go and we have chosen to keep the flooring.

Two days of work with two men to clear the house

Piled onto the back of the truck for the things they may be able to sell on and earn some money

And into the trailer for everything that was going to the disposal depot

Full to the brim, with all sorts of household paraphernalia

Bedroom 2 - looking towards the back of the house

Bedroom 2 - looking towards the church next door

Ensuite 1 (to be) - looking towards Bedroom 1 through the door and rear garden window

The cleared out eaves, huge spaces down either side of the upstairs rooms and landing

The airing cupboard with the hot water tank in what will become Bedroom 1 ensuite

Top of the stairs and Ensuite 2 eventually, currently the upstairs shower room

Bedroom 5 - currently a utility room but may be joined into Bedroom 4 eventually

Bedroom 3 - a downstairs bedroom that we took all the fittings out of as well
