Old Orchard

We purchased Old Orchard just as we sold the two properties in Bridge Terrace. Old Orchard was a probate sale and needed a lot of renovation as the gentleman who had died was in his late 90's and had not really done anything major for a while, although he had done a lot when younger.

We renovated Old Orchard whilst waiting for planning permissions and builders quotes for demolishing and re-building our home at The Kennels. We then lived in it for the 5 months it took to demolish and re-build The Kennels whilst I worked from here during that time. After we moved into the new build house at The Kennels we rented this property out to a number of tenants over the 5 years, not all of them the sort of people we would want to rent out to again. We needed to replace carpets and redecorate before we sold Old Orchard in 2015.

Before the renovation

These photos were taken as we purchased the property in 2008. We then spent a little time looking at what we could do to improve the layout and also make it safer as the electrics all needed a thorough update.

During the renovation

These photos were taken as we renovated the bungalow. The electrics and plumbing were all updated and the external boiler and oil tank moved to comply with building regs. A garden room was added onto the rear of the kitchen, an extra window put into the lounge, the separate bathroom and toilet combined into one large bathroom, an ensuite constructed and several doorways moved. Ray installed a new kitchen, with the help of Adrian who visited on a number of weekends.

After the renovation

These photos were taken as we finished the renovation. We also chopped down the hedge to half the height at the end of the garden and discovered a view of the river below which we didn't know was there.

The lady who bought from us built two bedrooms into the garage area and still lives there today with her daughter.
